CodersTrust and UPEACE sign partnership agreement
Global EdTech Company CodersTrust and the United Nations University for Peace-(UPEACE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding-MoU to forge partnership on academic programs of mutual interest.
The signing ceremony held at UPEACE campus in San Jose, Costa Rica on Saturday was graced by the virtual presence of Dr Dipu Moni, Minister of Education of Bangladesh Govt as the Chief Guest.
Aziz Ahmad, Chairman of CodersTrust and Fransisco Rojas Aravena, Rector of University for Peace signed the agreement on their respective part. Dr Juan Carlos Sainz Borgo, Dean, University for Peace and Md. Shamsul Haque CEO, CodersTrust were present among others.
Congratulating both UPEACE and CodersTrust Dr Dipu Moni said, relationship established by signing this MoU will continue to contributing to the more effective attainment of common objectives. She lauded CodersTrust for its continuous contribution to developing ICT skills of people in Bangladesh and those in other countries, especially the youths and the women folks.
Dr Dipu Moni mentioned about the International Agreement for the establishment of the University For Peace some four decades back to which the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations was a signatory.
UPEACE rector Fransisco Rojas Aravena recalled about his visits to Bangladesh in high-level meeting on culture of peace and termed its relationship with Bangladesh as permanent.
He praised CodersTrust for its focused target groups youths and women from underprivileged, underserved and underemployed.
Emphasizing on innovation for peace Fransisco mentioned about artificial intelligence and said, it has positive sides but it also be used against humanity. This needs to be stopped, he opined.
Peace is the pre condition to learning for progress and prosperity, Aziz Ahmad mentioned. He highlighted about global data on discrimination in education, job opportunity and women empowerment and said, for an overcome the affiliation between University for Peace and CodersTrust is highly significant.
Under the agreement CodersTrust and UPEACE will seek to develop a foundational course package that offers students the opportunity to combine foundational learning from the University for Peace and the training courses from CodersTrust in online platform with the potential accreditation.
Both the Parties will work cooperatively to build longer term for joint courses and curriculum design that supports the expansion of CodersTrust online offerings and the training of University for Peace students in new skills development.
The MoU signing was followed by a roundtable discussion where Aziz Ahmad joined as a panelist. Among other Giannina Signing, Director, Master of Data Journalism, Columbia University, Branch Panic, Founding Director, AI for Peace, Fabin Solis of Abogado Aguilar Castillo Love, Marina Meira, Head of Projects, Data Privacy Brazil Research Association, Marcela Chacon, VP and Global Director for United Nations Relations, Dan O’Bryan, CEO of Roco Plants Natalia Porras, Director of Foreign Trade of Ministry of Foreign Trade of Costa Rica Government, Gas Andrews, Adjunct Professor were in the panel among others.
